We have to brag on Blooma Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher Cori Levin for just a moment. She recently entered and won Devanadi Yoga Studio’s essay contest, “What Yoga Means to Me.” With Devanadi’s permission, we’re republishing it below.

Cori Levin, Blooma Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher. Check her out Saturdays at 9:30 a.m.!
Want to know more about Cori, who left Minnesota for a whole year to live in sunny Sayulita, Mexico, where she taught and lived yoga on the shores of the Pacific Ocean for one year with her family? (Ahhh, right?)
She returned with her latest mantra of “Come do nothing.” Cori says it embodies her philosophy as a teacher and mother: break the rules, challenge yourself by changing your pace, feel totally supported by doing nothing.
How liberating is THAT?
A certified yoga instructor, Cori also incorporates chanting, Reiki and Thai yoga stretches into her class. Check out Cori’s Saturday morning Vinyasa Flow (for Everyone!) class at 9:30 a.m. at Blooma’s Minneapolis studio. She occasionally brings her fabulous energy as a sub to Prenatal Yoga classes, too!
Love,
Alisa, Sarah & the women of Blooma

“What Yoga Means to Me”
{By Cori Levin}
Feeling all those pretty words……love, strength, compassion…….
How has yoga helped me?
The real question is who the heck was I running around, literally, unconscious before I discovered yoga? I am spooked to meet me. Wait, I actually do meet “me” on my mat weekly AND in the a.m. hours when my baby is up!
Consciousness comes to mind, freeing, strength, love, nutrition, abundance, compassion, community and the list goes on and on and onnnnnnn.
Currently working on grounding, argh, this meditation stuff is soooo hard for my vinyasa lifestyle and Vat imbalances(: One breath at a time, I will and can with patience and effort! Try easy Cori, Try EASY!
Freedom = taking off the burden. I can do and be who I want, I have decided to quit “trying” to fulfill others, oh my what was I thinking! Freedom also is/was freeing of fear in order to travel (and all that goes with it) with my family to Mexico and fully immerse into a different culture without much of a plan for a year. MORE PLEASE!
Understanding process. When you live in vinyasa, you keep moving, do things on an impulse, gogogo. Processing the process…. Hard, hard, change, relationships, EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY take a long time and flow in different ways, with diff. strengths with diff. colors, times and spaces and paces.
Feeling my body and learning what it means to listen, however, sometimes the chocolate cakes are a mind pleaser. My body has done enough today, I need more today. I am carrying my baby with poor posture. Ask for help, a million people want to help and love. (:
Also to LOVE me for being me and LOVE others with more compassion. I have learned and am learning to see beauty in all people since I have practiced with incredible people and been exploring new places and done some of my journeying inward. Thanks Tanya and Devanadi for being you and influencing me. After reading this again, it seems so scattered. (: A teacher honoring her student within!
