*Live* Your New Mama Yoga Practice In the Small Moments

One of Blooma’s prenatal yoga teachers in Shakopee, the lovely Anne Johnson, recently gave birth to a sweet baby girl, Emilia. Congratulations, Anne!! Like many of us new mamas, she struggled to figure out when it would be appropriate to start postnatal yoga. She shares with the Blooma blog her path to rediscovering yoga and self-care in a new body, with new demands on her time and energy. (Thanks, Anne, for admitting that not all moments are Zen moments, either!)

Mamas, comment below with your own tips on finding yoga practice time — or any down time — since becoming a mama!

I found I needed yoga in my second week postpartum just to connect and to breath and tap into the energy I found both before and when I was pregnant. I’ve missed my own physical practice for centering and feeling strong in the first two weeks of Emilia’s life outside my belly — a very large yet wonderful transition for both of us. Katie and baby Molly

Hi Corrine,

Just wanted to pass along the good news.  We welcomed Molly Kathryn on July 8th 2011 at 7:50 pm.  She was 8 lbs, 13 oz, and 21 inches.  We are just in awe or her beauty and fell completely in love.  She is so precious and we feel so very blessed.

Thank you for the last month of prenatal yoga.  I sure do miss it!   It was my guiding force for breathing and relaxing during my LONG labor along with the most amazing coach and support, Matt my husband.  I am healing and doing well.  We are looking forward BYOB. Thanks!

Katie

Hi Friends,

Mike and I are proud to announce the birth of our baby girl, Eleanor Lynn!

Baby Ellie

Ellie was born 6 weeks ahead of schedule on June 21st, and she was 5 lbs 1 oz. After a swift 8 hour labor and natural delivery, we spent 11 days in the special care nursery making sure her lungs were developed and she was gaining weight. She is doing GREAT! She was just ready to make her debut in the world.

We are so happy to have her home and spend the majority of our time pondering how beautiful she is. (Seriously, she is like the cutest baby ever in the history of the world.)

Love,

Robynn and Mike

Corrine!

Jaye Mississippi was born Aug. 5th at 3 a.m., 6 lbs, 10 oz, 20 inches long. I had a long day of nausea and contractions 10 minutes apart, but after my water broke, Jaye was born three hours later in a beautiful waterbirth just below the yoga studio!

Baby Jaye

All the yoga squats and hip circles were incredibly helpful during the birth. I tried to really picture everything soft and open just like we do in yoga. And I doing some big hip circles during each contraction towards the end seemed to really move Jaye into the best position really fast.

I’m really thankful for all the great yoga and support from Blooma! We’re looking forward to joining you for BYOB soon.

Love,

Jill

Volunteer at Blooma, get almost-free yoga!

How can yoga be almost free, you ask? It’s simple! You volunteer in Blooma’s childcare room (experience preferred) once a week for a minimum of three months. In exchange, you’ll get a yoga class pass at an incredible price — just $3 per class! (See below to apply.)

For every three shifts you volunteer, you may purchase a volunteer pass: 5 classes for $15. Use your pass for any weekly class… prenatal, vinyasa flow,  yoga-pilates fusionBring Your Own Baby yoga — you name it! We need volunteers during the following times:

• Monday, 10:30-11:45 a.m.

• Thursday, 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

• Friday, 10:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Other important info: often people ask if they can bring their children with to volunteer. Generally, we prefer if you do not, as it limits the amount of kids we can care for during yoga classes. However, we do make exceptions. Please consider whether you’d truly be able to attend to the needs of the other kids in childcare — who may be of varying ages, while your own child is there.

If this sounds like a good fit for you, fill out the form below and we’ll send you a volunteer application. (Any trouble with the form, just email us the old-fashioned way: lauren (at) blooma.com with the subject line ATTN: CHILDCARE VOLUNTEER.)

We would LOVE to have you as part of the Blooma team!

Love,

Alisa, Sarah & the women of Blooma
