Birth Story: Twin Boys, No Fear

Today’s birth story comes from a Minneapolis-area mama, Jess, who was a prenatal yoga regular at Blooma, and all-around incredible woman who dove head-first into the doula profession after her profound experience of birthing TWIN boys vaginally. Her story was featured recently on the blog Birthing Without Fear.

Jess, Mitch & their two cuties

What makes her story so magnificent is her raw honesty from finding out there were two boys in her womb, to educating herself on her birthing options, and of course, her birth experience itself. She writes about her emotions shortly after her water broke at almost 35 weeks:

I felt worried, lost, happy, excited, calm – all at the same time. But from that moment on, there was no fear. I knew somehow that it would all be okay, that I would push both these babies out of my vagina with little problem, that my body knew how to do what needed to be done that day.

Since the boys were born, Jess has become a vocal advocate for normalizing vaginal twin birth. Her advice for mamas pregnant with twins? Hire a doula and “find a care provider who is experienced with both twins and breech vaginal deliveries. If you have a good birthing team in place, you can focus on birthing those beautiful babies without all the extra worry,” she writes at Birthing Without Fear.
