Blooma Blossom: A “Yoga Mama” + Her Baby Boy

Congratulations to new mama Teresa, who practiced prenatal yoga at Blooma’s St. Paul studio and took the power of those squats right into the birthing room with her!

Dear Corrine,

This message is long overdue, but I have been a little busy lately! My baby boy, Colin Thomas, was born on Sunday, June 3rd at 5:04 p.m.

He was a healthy 8 lbs, 2 oz and was nine days “early.” :)

My water broke at 3 a.m. at home and the pressure waves (contractions) slowly intensified over the morning. Transition went fast, I went from 4 cm to complete in half an hour! For pushing I used the squat bar, and at one point the nurse said, “You must be a yoga mama, only yoga mamas can stay in the squat position that long.” :)

My pushing stage lasted 3.5 hours, but my midwife said I had a lot of strength and stamina (which I attribute to yoga) and that is why she allowed me to go so long without intervening!

I just want to thank you as well as all the other wonderful St. Paul prenatal instructors for all the help, guidance and support these last 5 months. I am so thankful I discovered Blooma during my pregnancy. It inspired me to pursue a natural childbirth, which I am so happy to have achieved.

I cannot wait for BYOB! I miss being in the Blooma community and support it provides and can’t wait to come back! See you soon!

Teresa M.

Blooma Blossom: Welcome, Liam!

With their permission, we’re sharing a little love note from new parents Amy and Russ. Congratulations on Liam’s arrival!

Sarah,

I just wanted to let you know how helpful your couples class was for Russ and I during our late stages of pregnancy and labor and delivery!

Thanks to you, Russ was very aware of the stages of labor and he was an amazing coach for me! He was supportive all the way through even when labor got very difficult.

We welcomed our precious little Liam on March 7, 2012. It was an amazing experience and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way!

I was determined and felt confident in our decision to have a natural childbirth and was thankful for our nurses at Fairview Southdale who also were very supportive of our birth wishes.

I am thankful for the class that you offered and have been recommending it to all of my pregnant friends. I will be looking into your baby and mom classes as I begin to venture out with Liam!

Thank you for supporting all the mamas!

Amy, Russ & Liam

Blooma Blossom: Welcome, Noelle!

Welcome to the world, Noelle! Your mama worked hard to welcome you and we are so proud of her. We hope to see you at BYOB yoga soon. :-)

Thank you so much for the words of love, Clare. But YOU are the one who did all the hard work! Way to go, mama!

Love,

Alisa, Sarah & the women of Blooma

Hi Sarah,

I know this e-mail is way overdue, but I’m sure you understand that life with a newborn is super busy, stressful at times and amazing but leaves little time left for Mom.   I want to thank you for all of your amazing support throughout my pregnancy.  I’m so glad that I found Blooma and your prenatal class.  You are an amazing teacher and coach and Blooma is such a necessary resource for pregnant mamas.

My husband and I learned so much throughout my pregnancy thanks to Blooma.  You inspired me every class and helped me when I needed guidance in making big decisions.  I switched to HCMC and the Midwives at 34 weeks because of you and I can not thank you enough for that.

I had an extremely long and hard labor, 54 hours, and I know that if I would not have made the switch I would have had a C-section (which is what I really wanted to avoid).  I know that attending your classes was a big part of what got me through the labor and I was able to muster up the strength I needed to get through it.  I am so grateful for your support and wisdom when it comes to childbirth.  I could not have done it without you.  You are truly an inspiration and pregnant mamas in the Twin Cities are so lucky to have you.

I can’t thank you enough!  I’ve been bringing my daughter Noelle to the New Mama Group and we are hoping to get to BYOB soon!  I think that you should teach a class for new moms, even if it’s just once or twice a month so that we can all be together again!  I miss your classes!!!

Thank you again and I hope to see you around Blooma sometime soon!  I’ve attached a few pictures of my new family.

Sincerely,

Clare B.
