*Live* Your New Mama Yoga Practice In the Small Moments

One of Blooma’s prenatal yoga teachers in Shakopee, the lovely Anne Johnson, recently gave birth to a sweet baby girl, Emilia. Congratulations, Anne!! Like many of us new mamas, she struggled to figure out when it would be appropriate to start postnatal yoga. She shares with the Blooma blog her path to rediscovering yoga and self-care in a new body, with new demands on her time and energy. (Thanks, Anne, for admitting that not all moments are Zen moments, either!)

Mamas, comment below with your own tips on finding yoga practice time — or any down time — since becoming a mama!

Love,

I found I needed yoga in my second week postpartum just to connect and to breath and tap into the energy I found both before and when I was pregnant. I’ve missed my own physical practice for centering and feeling strong in the first two weeks of Emilia’s life outside my belly — a very large yet wonderful transition for both of us. Meet Teacher Anne Johnson (+ get ready for smoothies!)

Blooma Prenatal Yoga and Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher Anne Johnson is a Vitamix blender addict. So much so that she’s started blogging about her “toss n’ blend approach to Vitamixing.” Yum!

Her recipes for Vitamix Blueberry-Orange Protein Smoothie and Ginger-Lemon Delight sound heavenly! We thought you might like, too.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of practicing yoga with Anne and her charming, grounded energy, check out one of her classes:

• Prenatal Yoga (Minneapolis), Fridays, 4:45-5:45 p.m.

• Vinyasa Flow (Shakopee), Wednesdays, 4:15-5:15 p.m.

Awash with Bliss

Happy new week, Blooma people!
Anne Johnson, a wonderful recent addition to the line-up of Blooma teachers, sent in this love note about the Sunday morning early-bird prenatal yoga class. Prepare to be showered in sweetness!

OK so maybe it’s because it’s Sunday, and the sun is shining, and it feels like we are even closer than ever to Spring: This morning I am awash with bliss! I had the privilege of subbing for the 8am early-bird prenatal class in Edina today, and I hope that the moms received even a fraction of the benefit from class that I am feeling right now.

As yoga teachers we wish, and we hope, and we cross our fingers and toes that we will do justice to the mission statement of Blooma: that we nurture the mind, body, and spirit of moms-to-be. But so often we, as teachers, are surprised by how we too are nurtured in this process. Looking out at the moms, who even at 8am seem bright-eyed and hopeful, I feel a charge of energy. Seeing them smiling and glowing, even through a VERY LONG goddess, I feel so grateful that I am connected with this community.

There is something wonderfully special about an hour spent in the presence of amazing mothers, sisters, daughters, women. It can leave us, as we depart, believing with our whole hearts in the lyrics to my new favorite song, “For You Now”, by Bruno Merz: “Everything will be all right now… all right. Everything will be all right now… all right.”

Thank you to everyone, moms especially, who make Blooma the beautiful community that it is.

Much love,
Anne

And that, friends, is pretty much the Blooma love affair in a nutshell. Om shanti!
