Hi Sarah,

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice during my time of labor! And for the wonderful yoga practice. I just loved going to Blooma each week :)

George Owen was born on July 2 at 1:33 a.m. and he was a big boy! 9lbs. 4oz and 21″ long. I knew he was bigger than my first (6lbs. 11oz.), but he surprised me! And, I didn’t think two births were quite alike, but mine were very similar! And both had such amazing outcomes…what a miracle!

Love,

Geri, Mark, Frank, and George

Hi Sarah,

I miss Blooma yoga soooo much but I am also enjoying my new role as a mom:) Our “little” girl was born on July 1st via c-section. She was 10 lbs 3 oz and beautiful! I have attached her pic at 3 weeks old. Looking forward to some yoga when I am able to.

Dear Blooma community,

Thank you for your ongoing support and for sharing your wisdom with me every week at yoga class! It definitely helped me last week as Aaron and I gave birth to our beautiful daughter Elise Ann (4 weeks early!).

Our baby girl Elise Ann arrived Thursday, July 7 at 6:11 p.m.! She is more beautiful than words can describe, and has done really well considering she made her grand entrance four weeks before our “due” date:) Elise was 5 lbs, 14 oz and 20 inches long. She has lots of dark hair!

Needless to say we were pretty shocked when my water broke at 4 a.m. Thursday. After scrambling to grab everything that hadn’t been packed in our hospital bag yet (we were procrastinating!) and getting a quick shower in, we arrived at the hospital by 7:15 a.m. Labor progressed very quickly throughout the day and ended with 10-15 minutes of pushing; so a very intense, but quick birth!

After a short stay in the hospital, we headed home Saturday afternoon. While we weren’t able to do a water birth as we’d hoped because of her gestational age, we were able to have the unmedicated birth we were hoping for.

Aaron was an incredible support and coach during labor and is turning out to be super dad with Elise (did we doubt that at all?!) I think his visit to prenatal yoga class during Father’s Day week helped give him a few pointers to use during my labor.

I’m healing very well and feeling good (beyond the sheer exhaustion, of course). Blooma was a great help to me in preparing for birth — both mind and body. Thanks to all!

Hi Sarah & Corrine,

Hope this message finds you well. Baby Philip William arrived June 25 at 11:12 a.m., 8 lbs 4 oz and 21 inches.

As you can imagine he is the best looking baby boy in the world!!! See attached pictures. It is amazing how much time he takes – thus this delay in sharing our wonderful news with you.

The delivery went well, however I am not spiritual enough to say it as beautiful.  The outcome is beautiful but the process I could do without. Looking back I realized how oblivious I was.  My contractions started Thursday night but they didn’t progress so I thought I just ate something wrong and I thought I had cramps.  I went to work on Friday, was pretty busy so I didn’t pay much attention to myself.  I didn’t feel 100% but I felt OK.

It was only after dinner on Friday that I realized that something is going on.  I finally stopped being busy just to realize that I had contractions and that they were progressing.  We stayed at home until 6 a.m. on Saturday morning, went to the hospital and Philip arrived at 11:12 a.m.

I had only about an hour of pushing, I am sure thanks to the yoga I did with you. Thank you for that. Sarah – I found my cave in the bathroom for most of the time at home.

Take care,

Stana (and John & Philip)

Blooma Blossom Alston!

Congratulation, Susanna! Alston is a cutie. Thanks for your kind e-mail, too!

Dear Sarah and Blooma staff,

We had a beautiful little boy on February 27th.  His name is Alston Jameson Butler, and Michael and I are having such a wonderful time with him.  Attending yoga sessions at Blooma was one of the best parts of my pregnancy.  I can’t wait to come back for BYOB classes.  We had a wonderful, smooth birth, thanks in part to all that we learned at Blooma—especially the breathing.  In yoga class I felt strong and confident, and I also learned to feel like my baby and I were on the same team.  This feeling got me through the toughest parts of labor.

Once I started pushing, I yelled out: “I love pushing!  Nobody ever told me this part was so great!” (granted I had an epidural by that point, but I could still feel the pressure, and it felt so great to push against the contractions and be so close to meeting my baby).

I’ve had a tougher recovery time than I was expecting, and there’s a lot I learned at Blooma that’s helped me through these past few weeks as well.  All the warrior and squat poses and push-ups helped me feel that my legs and arms were strong, even as the rest of my body was exhausted and recovering.  Trusting in my body’s strength was important in those first days as I maneuvered myself in and out of the tub over and over again, lifted and carried my baby over and over again.

Please let Cynthia know about Alston’s birth.  I practiced with her at the St. Paul studio in all the days leading up to the birth—I have great memories of those days! I’m sending Blooma lots of love and gratitude for all the support I felt  from the Blooma folks in my pregnancy and labor. Can’t wait to come to the St. Paul BYOB class in a few weeks!

Susanna

BYOB*Crawlers

We started a new class at Blooma today: BYOB*Crawlers: Bring Your Own Baby Yoga Bonding 2 … a class for crawling babies and their caregivers. If you’re familiar with the Yoga Bonding classes created by Lisa Bergly, then you’ll instantly recognize the Crawlers class as YB-2, for babies who are on the move (up to about 18 to 20 or so months). Six babies brought their parents — 4 mamas, 2 papas. Yay dads! The little ones and their parents did some yoga together at the beginning of the class, then while moms & dads did Sun Salutations, the babies played together, crawling all over the studio, checking out each other’s mats, and exploring their little bit of newfound freedom. And then the babies got back in on the action for some standing poses before the moms and dads put their core and legs to work. The babies left eager for lunch and ready for naptime; the parents reported they got a great, short workout, too. The class is Sunday mornings, from 11am to 11:45am. Blooma teachers Shelly Shern (who led the way in creating the Crawlers sequence) and Jennifer Derryberry Mann lead the class on alternating weekends. Come join us sometime! Late-comers and drop-ins are always welcome, and of course, you can sign up in advance online.
