We thought we’d pass along an opportunity to participate in a fascinating photography project about pregnancy in the workplace. Details are below or you can download a flyer about the project. If interested, contact Prof. Deutsch directly at tldeutsch@stkate.edu. Act soon — the project winds down at the end of this month.

Mamas, what are some of the challenges you’ve discovered about working while pregnant? What kind of support have you received?
Love,
Alisa, Sarah & the women of Blooma
My name is Todd Deutsch. I am a photographer and Associate Professor of Art at St. Catherine University. I am working on a national project called “Showing: Pregnancy in the American Workplace.” As the name suggests, photographers around the country have been invited to photograph pregnancy at work with the goal of encouraging public discussion around work- life balance and women’s health.
More information about the project, which will include an exhibition and a book, can be found at ShowingProject.org. Examples of my own work can be found on my site, ToddDeutsch.com.
I am very excited by the potential that this carries. While pregnancy in general is a common subject, pregnancy at work isn’t often shown. It presents something of a hole in the collective photographic record. “Showing” aims to change that.
Right now I am trying to make connections with people who might be interested in participating. Those who choose to participate will receive prints from me for their family albums, regardless of whether or not any of the photographs were selected for publication.
