That’s right, you heard us. Your postpartum belly is beautiful.
Changed, yes. Stretched out? Marked up? Pouchy? Maybe so. But like this lovely short documentary reminds us… there is a story there. Maybe more than one. There was life.
Go make yourself a cup of tea, and settle in to watch. Then tell us, what do you think about your changed body? How do you struggle? How do you accept?

p.s. — Piggyback on this topic by coming to this Saturday’s New Mama Group (12:30, Minneapolis location). Angie Sonrode facilitates, covering the topic is “Your Body After Baby!”
After birth and breastfeeding, many of us look down to discover bodies different than those we had pre-pregnancy. That’s normal of course, but it’s a nice reminder to hear that ALL of us experience these changes. Some things go back, some don’t.
Twin Cities doula Amber Kay, also a shiatsu massage therapist at Blooma, sent along the following fabulous quote along these lines — we had to share! Let us know what you think about YOUR beautiful mama body!
“Sandra Steffes, childbirth educator par excellence, first told me that in parts of Africa a woman is not considered truly wise until her nipples point to the ground. These women know that you need a life story to be truly wise… and that the story of pregnancy and birth and caring for babies (as well as age) changes our bodies. Those changes should be applauded and revered, and yes, celebrated. So, lately I have been content, and pleased, with the story my ‘mother-of-five’ body shares with the world.”

How fabulous is that?
