Sometimes when we’re in the midst of pregnancy, it’s easy to lose sight of what a crazy, amazing miracle this whole growing-a-baby thing is. The brilliance of our bodies to divide cells, create organs, nerve systems, give birth, and so much more — well, it’s mind-blowing!
This point was demonstrated in a TED presentation by Alexander Tsiaras, who created a medical visualization showing human development from conception to birth and beyond. He says,
Even though I am a mathematician, I look at this with marvel: How do these instruction sets not make these mistakes as they build what is us? … It’s mystery, it’s magic, it’s divinity.
Truly, it is!
Thanks to prenatal yoga teacher Bridget McGreevy for passing along this video. She writes: “I LOVE how you can see the baby as a partner in the birth and that there is LOTS of room in the bony pelvis for baby to navigate — it is the muscles that need to yield.”
Enjoy more of Bridget’s gems of wisdom at her Monday 5:30 p.m. class in St. Paul!

This is so amazing… I’m viewing this on the eve of my 28 week Ultrasound and will be looking at our baby with even more amazement and a fresh new perspective tomorrow. Thanks Alisa and Sarah for posting! XO, Lauren
