Cool your head, hot mama

“Mindful parenting” is easier said than done, don’t you think? Of course we all strive to parent from a place of ease and trust within ourselves. But when your kid just took a crayon to the wall or a pair of scissors to the sleeve of your favorite dress (admission: that was me at age 7), it might not be so easy to reach into your well of mindfulness and parent with a cool head.

No doubt, regular yoga practice helps with mindful parenting (and being mindful in general). We also like the sound of an upcoming workshop (beginning June 17) by Judith Lies at Heartwood Mindfulness Practice Center about this very topic. The description: “With compassion and acceptance, loving, guiding, letting go, and living side by side.”

If you decide to take this workshop, please do let us know how it was! And if you’re intrigued by the topic but can’t attend, here are a few books we love that do a beautiful job with this same topic:
